Many think of California Riesling as an oxymoron, sort of like healthy tacos or German humor. Rest assured, though, this wine is no joke – and it'll taste pretty darn serious with those pork tacos, we might add. The grapes for this slightly sweet-style Riesling were grown in one of the coolest parts of the Monterey peninsula. The cool, sunny days there make for a fleshy, ripe wine full of mouthwatering acidity. To dispense with the wine-nerd speak, that means this bottle tastes awesome with food – particularly something spicy. If you love Thai, Mexican or Indian takeout, this is the wine to have on hand. Even the Germans don't do Riesling this good at such a low price.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows generous, spicy, floral and tropical aromas, with notes of peach and pear. Peach and apricot flavors present themselves right away, along with notes of orange peel, all framed by firm acidity. Everything is balanced by a round, full mouthfeel that leads to a long finish. The sweet style makes this wine ideal with food, particularly spicy Asian or Mexican dishes.
