Valentine's Day Paris Getaway
Feb. 11-15, 2012

Day 1, Feb. 11: When you arrive in Paris, you'll be met at the airport and driven to your hotel, conveniently located on the Left Bank. Your deluxe hotel is a privately owned boutique property whose rooms are individually decorated with designer fabrics, exposed wood-beam ceilings, armoires and flat-screen televisions. The property is located in St. Germain, just steps away from the famed pedestrian markets and galleries. You are two blocks from the Seine River and minutes from the Louvre. It's a dream location. After you settle in, a private guide will take you on an orientation walking tour during which you'll see the Louvre, Seine River, the Eiffel Tower, the Place de la Concorde and the Tuileries Gardens. Afterward, get ready for your first fabulous lunch in Paris at a Michelin-starred restaurant. You'll start with a Champagne toast, and then enjoy a specially designed tasting menu of chef specialties, planned to suit your preferences and tastes.

Sample Menu
• Pan-cooked cèpes from Bordeaux, served with an eggplant ravioli and smoked ham from Florence.
• Sea bass royale with chanterelles and an emulsion of chestnuts.
• Baby lamb chops roasted in green peppercorns, fondant of celery root, crunchy pear and a blue-cheese cream.
• Cinnamon panna cotta, with quince sorbet.
• Fondant of chocolate with a caramel center and a cacao crumble

That afternoon and evening, you can relax and enjoy Paris on your own. Bliss Travels will be happy to recommend restaurants and make dinner reservations for you.

Day 2, Feb. 12: Enjoy a leisurely morning exploring Paris's sights. This afternoon you'll join a privately arranged tasting for an indulgent chocolate-and-wine pairing class at Un Dimanche à Paris, a lounge owned by world-famous chocolatier Pierre Cluizel.

The tasting will include:
• Fresh, homemade hot chocolate with three pastries and a homemade seasonal macaroon
• Four chocolates, each from a different country of origin, along with information on each chocolate
• Four chocolates with flavored ganache
• One salted butter caramel.

Each of these items was produced in Paris at this location, and you will have a chance to talk with the staff and chefs (your guide will translate). The chocolates will be paired with two different wines, a spicy Cabernet blend and a traditional dessert wine, so that you can see how these different approaches to pairing wine and chocolate enhance the flavors of the chocolate in different ways.

In the evening, choose between a romantic evening at the Eiffel Tower or a cruise on the Seine, or dine at one of Paris's many incredible restaurants. Bliss Travels will be happy to make dinner recommendations and reservations for you at that perfect little spot.

Day 3, Feb. 13: After a leisurely breakfast, start the day with romance. Seal your commitment to each other by becoming part of one of Paris's oldest traditions: Each year, lovers from all over the world step onto the magical Pont des Arts and bring with them a lock, symbolizing their commitment to each other. They inscribe their names and the date and affix the lock to the metal railings of the bridge. Then they seal their promise by throwing the key into the Seine River.

Spend the rest of today exploring Paris with the help of a customized, self-led daytime itinerary prepared according to your preferences, be they museums, shops, markets, restaurants, sights or some combination thereof.

Day 4, Feb. 14: If you're planning to pop the question or just want to spend Valentine's Day somewhere romantic, Bliss Travels will work with you to create the perfect day. This afternoon you'll have a Champagne tasting followed by a reservation at one of Paris's top restaurants. (Bliss Travels will recommend and reserve a restaurant for you according to your tastes and budget.) Whether that place is a tiny little bistro tucked away on a hidden street, an elegant, Michelin-starred restaurant with world-renowned cuisine, or even just a simple restaurant with a fabulous view of the twinkling Paris night sky, Bliss knows where to go and how to get you that great table.

Day 5, Feb. 15: After a leisurely breakfast, you'll check out of the hotel and be driven to the airport for your flight back to the U.S.

Options
You can choose to add professional photography at some of Paris's most celebrated landmarks for an additional cost. Hotel upgrades are available for $400 per person, also to be paid to Bliss Travels.

Getting There
Flights are not included. The flight time from the East Coast to Paris (CDG) is an overnight flight and is approximately seven hours, or approximately 10 hours' flying time from major West Coast airports, non-stop. Bliss Travels can help you find the right airfare and make recommendations on which flights to take.
