Sure, we all told ourselves a few months ago we were going to work on our six-packs, just in time for spring. Since that didn't happen and warm weather is finally (sort of) here, it's time to focus on an obtainable kind of six-pack. What's more, this sampling of six awesome white wines costs about the same price as one month of the gym membership you're not using (but are probably paying for anyway). All six of these wines are fresh, vibrant, versatile and full of flavor, perfect for all your warm-weather entertaining needs. So go with the six-pack that takes a lot less effort to get and provides much more enjoyment.
From the winery: "Aromas of honey and citrus candy. In the mouth, we get the same aromas, with a mineral touch, typical of the Chablis wines, with a lengthy finish. Pairs well with oysters, seafood or escargots. Also goes well with goat cheese or Gruyère."
Unlike your typical Pinot Grigio, this one has powerful, persistent aromas of ripe fruit. Those aromas transform into similar flavors on the dry, balanced and soft – yet full-bodied – palate.
From the winery: "Typical crisp and delicate perlage. Pale, light-yellow color, with a delicate and complex bouquet of fruity notes that remind of peach and green apple, with second notes of acacia and wisteria. Fresh and light on the palate, with balanced acidity and body; harmonic with a long, persistent aftertaste."
Ripe and fleshy, the wine shows tropical notes of fig, honeydew and pineapple along with a spicy floral note. The palate mimics the aromas, with enjoyable flavors of D'Anjou pear, a hint of nutmeg, ginger and orchard fruit. This wine will pair perfectly with a variety of foods, from pork chops with baked orchard fruit to halibut steaks to a ripe, stinky cheese plate.
The wine, wonderful as an aperitif or with light desserts, shows powerful aromas of acacia, wallflowers and verbena. On the palate you'll find notes of ginger, peach and quince, along with hints of spicy apples, white peach and lime. Off-dry yet extremely lively and light on its feet, the wine finishes with a delicate honeyed note.
Bright, mouth-filling acidity plays on the palate, while succulent citrus flower and ripe peach notes dance on the tongue. Primary notes of mandarin orange, ripe melon and wildflower honey, all supported by a core of minerality, make this wine one of the most versatile Sauvignon Blancs for the price. Enjoy this with anything from grilled vegetables to buttery corn on the cob to a white asparagus salad with goat cheese. Or drink it on its own with good company.
