Who loves Châteuneuf-du-Pape? Everyone. OK, but who loves paying $50 per bottle? No one. So that's why when we're in the mood for a big, rich Grenache that offers all the complexity and power of a CDP, we look to Spain. There are literally hundreds of awesome, old-vine Garnachas that pack a punch and pair with a wide range of foods (just as the best Southern Rhône wines do), but only cost about a third as much – sometimes even less. The Altovinum is a wine that we'd be thrilled to drink any night of the week, and we know you'll be every bit as bowled over as we are by the quality and value of this full-bodied, versatile red.

Tasting Notes

This offers a lovely perfume of spice box, mineral and wild cherry. This perfectly balanced mix of characters lends itself to an intensely fruity wine with loads of taste, a smooth texture, and a pure, fruit-filled finish. It pairs well with pretty much everything – white and red meats roasted or grilled, game, meat casseroles and stews, complex sauces, foie gras, legumes, or an array of cheeses, blue and cured alike.

"Supple on entry, then firmer in the mid-palate, with vibrant flavors of black and blue fruits and floral pastilles. Finishes with powerful blue fruit and spice notes and very good length."
