If you were having us over, though, we'd recommend opening the Chardonnay and the three reds with your holiday dinner. The white is perfect to get things started, and the reds show different ranges of flavor and complexity so as to suit everyone sitting around the dinner table.
Open the two sparklers as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's. The Bug Juice is better for your friends who like a little sweetness with their fizz, while the Prosecco is right for those who prefer a more dry, finessed style of sparkling wine.

The 2006 White Oak Cabernet displays classic Napa Cabernet aromas of cassis, black cherry, coffee, vanilla and baking spices. It is mouth-filling and juicy, with firm but balanced tannins. Though drinking great right now, it has the stuffing to improve for at least another two to three years if you can hold out. This is an ideal wine to serve with prime rib. It's also great with cheeseburgers made with home-ground chuck.
Wonderful, lively aromas of ripe peach and melon leap from the glass. The palate has delicate, creamy bubbles balanced by a rich and honeyed sweetness. Ample acidity keeps the 2010 Bug Juice lively, and the finish is a pleasant fruit salad of flavors. Pair it with fruit tarts, pastries, brunch fare and strong cheeses such as Gorgonzola.
Luscious elderflower, melon and honey notes dominate the nose and palate on this bright and lively wine. The mousse is refined, and the acidity is refreshing without being searing, balanced by just enough fruit-salad flavor to keep your mouth watering. There is a nice touch of pink grapefruit on the finish. With all the elements in perfect harmony, this lovely bubbly is almost too easy to imbibe. Pop this sparkler soon, and serve it chilled. Great for an upcoming celebration, this wine would also be an excellent aperitif, brunch wine or complement to fruit desserts.
This Zin from the pedigreed Windsor Oaks Vineyard is silky, bright and fresh. The nose shows cherry Jolly Rancher, mixed red berries, violet and sweet baking spice. The palate is rich and round, with perfectly polished tannins and creamy raspberry, vanilla and cherry cola flavors that lead to a long, complex finish. I kept filling my glass with this beauty long after dinner was finished. Drink this wine now with grilled meats, or cellar it for five to 10 years.
Gold Medal (2011)
This charming wine offers bushels of fresh red fruit aromas. Plum and black cherry carry through to the palate, and the fruit and toasty aromas also evoke fresh strawberry-rhubarb pie. This youthful 2010 red has mild tannins, a medium body and a bright, fresh finish. Drink it in its youth, and pair with charcuterie, mild cheeses or grilled chicken.
