6 x 2010 Ruston Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Every time I've offered a red wine from Ruston on Lot18, the response has been overwhelming. This wine has all the hallmarks of top Napa quality. The grape used in this aromatic white is a fuller-bodied clone of Sauvignon Blanc. It makes a wonderfully succulent wine that has the power to please just about any palate, making it an ideal choice for party sipping. Many prominent and well-known wineries have been working with this kind of Sauvignon Blanc for decades, and the 2010 Ruston is among the best expressions of it. With its concentrated flavors of white citrus flowers, ripe pineapple, Meyer lemon and a hint of vanilla bean, this value-priced gem will keep all your guests smiling.

Tasting Note

Complex aromas of mango, honeydew melon and delicate notes of honeysuckle and orange blossom immediately greet the nose, like fruit orchards captured in a glass. On the palate, the wine has lovely weight and a round mouthfeel, yet it carries charming citrusy notes that keep the whole thing well balanced. A lingering flintiness, coupled with kiwifruit, almond, lychee and honeydew melon, glides across the finish. This the perfect picnic wine for a hot summer day. Serve it cool, but not cold. This will pair beautifully with salads, seared scallops with crisp fried string potatoes, and grilled artichokes with spicy dipping sauce.
