6 x 2010 Casa Marin Laurel Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Founded in 2000 by Maria Luz Marin, who has been described by The Wine Advocate as "Chile's first and most prominent female vigneron," Casa Marin has made a name for itself over the past decade with its dynamic, cool-climate wines. They're fresh, mouthwatering and exciting, and are as easy to drink on their own as with food.

After decades working in the Chilean wine industry, Marin fulfilled a long-standing dream when she bought land in San Antonio Valley and founded Casa Marin. Located about an hour west of Santiago on the Pacific coast, San Antonio Valley is marked by morning mists, maritime breezes and cool temperatures. Marin saw potential in the undeveloped region for producing a vibrant, crisp style of Sauvignon Blanc. Undaunted by those who said San Antonio Valley was too inhospitable for grapes, she persevered.

Fast-forward to today, and Marin has earned rave reviews for her wines. Now working with her son, Felipe, who has studied winemaking in both the U.S. and in New Zealand, this talented duo is making some of the top Sauvignon Blancs in Chile. The vines are planted on their own rootstocks in a vineyard about 2.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

The 2010 Casa Marin Laurel Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect example of why Casa Marin's cool-climate expertise is paving the way for Chilean white wines. Fresh and lively, with crisp acidity and a concentrated, intense nose, the wine has a long, minerally finish that will keep you coming back, sip after sip.

Tasting Note
With its vibrant, concentrated nose, the 2010 Casa Marin Laurel Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is sure to catch your attention. Notes of kiwifruit, gooseberry, white flowers, fresh-cut grass and citrus fruits play together in an energetic symphony of smells. The wine is rich and ripe, but with zingy acidity and a finish of zesty grapefruit peel, pineapple fruit and flint. This would be a terrific wine for pairing with chicken fajitas or grilled seafood. The wine is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to hold over the next few years.

The Wine Advocate

More About Casa Marin
"Maria Luz Marin, Chile's first and most prominent female vigneron, has single-handedly put together this small gem of a winery in cool-climate San Antonio, just a few kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. Her wines are a reflection of her vision, and are as individualistic as anything produced in Chile.

Casa Marin's portfolio is most impressive. The San Antonio Valley is a cool-climate region particularly suited to the production of Pinot Noir. However, the white wines from Casa Marin are every bit as good."
