Squirrel Brand owes its expertise to 123 years of roasting experience. What began in 1888 as a small hand-roasted-nut operation remains just as committed to producing the ultimate nut in modern times.
In the century that has passed since the company sold nuts out of a horse-drawn wagon, world wars and economic recessions haven't affected the phenomenal quality of these nuts.
J. Brent Meyer and his team of master roasters have developed mouthwatering recipes that introduce elegant twists to classic bar snacks. Tasting Note
These nuts are some of the most addictive bursts of sweet, sugar and crunch I've ever tasted. With their crisp, buttery caramel layer and a sprinkling of salt, these are the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Handfuls upon handfuls later, I'm still munching away.
Katy Andersen studied cheese in Italy as a Fulbright Scholar before joining Lot18 as the Gourmet Food Specialist. Katy grew up on an organic farm, surrounded by a garden, an heirloom apple orchard and heritage livestock. While at Princeton University, she founded the Greening Princeton Farmers Market and the Princeton Slow Food chapter. Most recently, Katy was co-president of the Wine & Cuisine Society at the Harvard Business School. She was also a member of the winning finalist team of the Bordeaux blind-tasting competition at Lafite in 2011.

Since 1888, The Squirrel Brand Co. has manufactured the ultimate nut. Squirrel Brand was born during the Industrial Revolution and has weathered two World Wars, the Great Depression, and countless revolutions in the business world. Through it all, the company has remained steadfast in its commitment to produce the finest quality products for its customers.
Despite industry consolidation, The Squirrel Brand Co. has remained an independent, family-owned business. The company was originally founded in 1888 in Roxbury, Mass., but by 1899, Mr. Perley O. Gerrish acquired an interest in Squirrel Brand and moved the company to Cambridge, Mass. He began to sell his mixed nut varieties from store to store throughout the Boston area by means of horse and wagon.
Squirrel Brand nuts were carried to the South Pole by Admiral Richard Byrd on his first expedition to that area and they were shipped all over the world during World War II. In fact, one soldier stationed in the Philippines wrote: "I received a Christmas box with a pack of your peanuts in it. They were the only nuts that arrived without worms."
Today, the company is based in McKinney, Texas, where it continues to produce the ultimate nut under the Squirrel Brand and Southern Style Nuts brand names.
